Nelson Mandela, the father of modern South Africa, once said “It always seems impossible until it is done.” At Revive we’ve recently been reminded, in a rather profound way, of the incredible compounding effect that constant effort and resilience can produce over the course of a decade: the perseverance required to achieve sporting excellence.

Oscar and Sebastian’s Mum, Elizabeth, has worked for Revive for over 6 years and in that time, she’s held down a full-time job in the business, continued to raise 3 children, studied for a degree in Education at the local University AND amazingly, retained her sense of humour.  This year, Elizabeth will achieve her long desired ambition of becoming a teacher and will leave the business to focus on making a difference in her next career. It goes without saying that she will leave an irreplaceable Elizabeth-sized hole in the business! In that time, her boys Oscar (14) and Sebastian (13) have trained at Pond’s Forge, week in, week out to achieve their ambitions…the exquisite beauty of a perfectly timed and executed dive, the synchronicity of years of effort rolled into a 2 or 4 second moment and the myriad of other perfect feelings associated with a skilful demonstration of years of effort. The cost of such moments? Years of hard work, sacrifice, missed school days, and the courage & resilience to face and overcome competitions where the dives weren’t “quite” good enough. However, “it always seems impossible until it is done” was not a concept that this family has really taken notice of. Individuals who perform at the highest levels understand that success is not an accident. Years of hard work pay off, and quitting too soon is a sure path to so many what-ifs. Next month Oscar will compete at the European Junior Diving Championships in Bucharest and Sebastian has just qualified for the junior England squad. Bravo!!

It was lovely for our product manager to hear that Oscar and Sebastian were fighting over the contents of their Revive box this month – they particularly enjoyed the Ape Cheesy Puffs, (plant based, baked not fried, & gluten free) and the Blueberry Muffin and Banoffee Pie Nakd Bars (all natural raw fruit & nut bars.)

At Revive we wish all the best to Oscar as he prepares to leave for Bucharest, and to Sebastian as he trains with the England squad for the first time. Impossible is nothing.
